Welcome to the NGS IGG 2024

The Industrial Genotoxicity Group (IGG) in collaboration with the Next Generation Sequencing Special Interest Group (NGS SIG) are together pleased to host this joint meeting - “The Future of Genetic Toxicology: Novel Approach Methodologies (NAM’s) and error-corrected sequencing (ecNGS)”.

Our goal for this meeting is to advance the science of Genetic Toxicology, carcinogenesis (both genotoxic and non-genotoxic) and safety assessment of genetic therapies in the UK by facilitating the adoption of NAMs and ecNGS technologies. The 2 two-day meeting program will focus on novel approach methodologies (NAMs) and error-corrected sequencing (ecNGS) and how these techniques will together impact the future direction of regulatory genotoxicity assessment.

This meeting will serve scientists working in the UK and Europe in the area of DNA damage and mutation and will bring together scientists from industry, academia and regulatory bodies from the UK to discuss recent advancements in the field of NAMs and ecNGS. As well as sharing novel science and approaches to address current issues within the Genetic Toxicology field, two sessions will be held during the meeting that are focussed on the progress towards regulatory acceptance of NAMs and ecNGS, building on discussions from previous IGG and NGS meetings.

We encourage and promote the career development and contribution of new investigators by bringing the Richard Williams award, the IGG annual award to recognise new investigators, to provide spotlight for laboratory-based scientists with the IGG technical award.
